83 British District Councils have no plans to spend money on King Charles celebrations.

I am struggling to think of an American equivalent to Britain's coronation. Let's take the Fourth of July as an example. In cities, towns, and counties across America, local governments organize various taxpayer-funded celebrations to celebrate Independence Day. These celebrations could include a parade or fireworks display, a concert, or whatever else you want. Because these celebrations are open to everyone and they're a national holiday, I believe most taxpayers will support it. The British local councils don't want any money spent on "coronation parties," even though King Charles wants it to be a national holiday. Charles's subjects are in serious financial trouble both at the local and national levels. There is simply not enough money in many districts councils.

The King Charles's local council, which is almost 100 in number, has spent zero on celebrating his Coronation. Cotswold District Council was one of the 83 party-pooper town halls that snubbed the day. As Brits are urged to support the first Coronation in 70 Years on May 6, these unpatriotic authorities will be called "disgraceful" as well as "disappointing".

Charles has been living at Highgrove House, Tetbury, Gloucs for the past 43 years. The Lib Dem-led Cotswold administration does not plan to hold a crowning ceremony for Charles.

Sir Geoffrey Clifton Brown, Tory MP local said that he thought it was a disgrace. They should at least try to find something, especially with our royal connections -- I believe people are happy with their Royal connections. Cotswold District Council should do something, especially when Highgrove is in the area.

To celebrate Charles's Coronation, people are being given an extra bank holiday. The festivities will take place in the UK between May 6th and May 8. Our Freedom of Information request revealed that the councils had not allocated any money for it. These include Camden Council, North West London -- where Labour leader Sir Keir Sternmer lives. Authorities in Bolton and Leeds, Southend, Leicester Leicester, Brighton, Middlesbrough, and Southend have not also set aside any money. The lack of funds by Sunderland City Council, Labour-led, for May celebrations is causing anger.

Antony Mullen, the leader of the Tory opposition, stated: "It's disgraceful the council has chosen not to allow a narrow political view held by a few hard-left councillors in order to prevent residents from celebrating the Coronation."

Economically, I can see why localities might want to hold celebrations. That money is being used within the community. Local grocery stores, local pubs, and local vendors all profit from the people who come out to buy drinks and Union Jack flags. It doesn't make any sense, especially considering the country's huge cost-of-living crisis. Many people are struggling to heat their homes. Omid Scobie points to the fact that many councils aren't allocating money for Chubbly. These same councils are also struggling to fund libraries and street maintenance. The coronation is a waste of money at all levels, money that could be better used to improve the lives of the subjects of the king.

Many local councils cannot afford to maintain libraries, cemeteries and public parks, provide school transportation for students with special needs, fix potholes, clean streets, or support the arts. Street parties are the least of their concerns. pic.twitter.com/6YYBOgCbJt
