Charlize Theron continues to prove that not only is she a badass on the screen but that she a fierce mother too. Charlize adopted two Black daughters, Jackson in 2012, and August in 2015. In a recent profile in Essence, Charlize credited the Black women that keep her check while raising her daughters. Charlize is starring as Morticia in The Addams Family 2 animated movie, out this week. In a conversation with Britain’s The Mirror, Charlize said that the character resonated with her because of the way Morticia speaks to her children, as if they are adults. Charlize went on to say that her kids thinks that it is cool that she is in the Addams Family movie and that having her daughters think that she is cool is better than the feeling from winning an Oscar. Actress Charlize, 46, is in no doubt which is coolest with daughters Jackson, nine, and August, six – and she’s delighted.
“I can tell they are quietly pretty chuffed their mum is Morticia,” said the star who plays the spooky matriarch in The Addams Family 2, out this week.
“As a mum who, like all mothers, wants their kids to think she’s cool, it’s a feeling no Oscar can replace.”
The actress, worth around £117million, adopted Jackson in 2012 and August in 2015. And she says her clan share many of the same values as The Addams Family.
She explains: “I’ve always made sure they know exactly who we were as a family, what we stand for and what our values are. Kindness and treating others in the way you want to be treated is how to go through life.”
She even draws parallels with the way she and Morticia talks to the kids. She said: “She speaks to them the same as she speaks to adults – something my mother did with me and I do with mine. There’s no googly talk.

I love reading stories about Charlize and her children. She has become somewhat of a mama bear which I am sure has a lot to do with her Leonic energy. Leos are fierce protectors of their pride. I also love how Charlize loves her girls by putting in the extra work to make sure they love themselves, their features, their hair and their culture. That says a lot about her. I also like the fact that Charlize does not dumb herself down for her children. It seems bizarre when parents only speak to their kids in “googly talk” as she mentioned. For Charlize her daughters’ love and approval is the ultimate prize and that is a beautiful thing. I am looking forward to The Addams Family animated movie. I am sure Charlize is amazing as Morticia (I didn’t get to see the first one). I also look forward to more tales from Theron’s home.
Side Note: I think it is absolutely bizarre how British media is obsessed with counting people’s money.
