Charles, King of England, spent months educating the British media about the importance of Prince Harry attending the coronation. Meghan was an afterthought in the invitation. Charles also made it a point to not invite Prince Archie or Princess Lili to either the coronation, nor to the UK. Harry stayed in London for 28 hours and then flew to California so he could be with Archie on Archie’s birthday. Charles didn't invite the Sussexes to Trooping the Color, nor did he make any attempts to meet Harry when Harry was in London to testify at the Mirror against Charles's close friends. There's no "event" that Harry "must attend", and Charles has nothing to hold Harry back from. This is the situation for the foreseeable, with Harry and his dad barely communicating and possibly never seeing eachother. Tom Sykes of The Daily Beast has royal sources who insist that the stalemate between Harry and his father is about Camilla.
Friends of the royals believe that King Charles and Prince Harry will never reconcile their differences. This is due to Harry's attack on Charles' wife Queen Camilla. Many in the royal circle have long ruled out the possibility that Prince William and Harry will ever put aside their differences. Now, some are also pessimistic about Harry's relationship with his father the king after Harry's harsh criticism of Camilla.
Friends claim that Charles was hurt by the attack his son made on Camilla's character in his book. He described her as a woman who was determined to become the queen. He accused her of "sacrificing him" on "her PR altar".
A friend of the Queen who has known her for many years told The Daily Beast, "How can she move past that?" Calling your stepmother a b*tch in private or during a family dispute is one thing. It's one thing to call your stepmother a bitch in private or during a family argument. But, it's another thing to do it in a bestseller book that is now catching up on the Bible? Harry did exactly what he said and I believe the outcome was predictable. Charles loves Camilla. He made her queen. "He doesn't respond well to criticism about her."
The friend of Camilla responded: "It's a big part." When asked if the attack on Camilla had influenced Charles to be more strict with his son, she said, "Yes, it is a major factor." Charles has been very clear in his love for both of his sons, so the door won't be closed. They are an obstinate group and no one is going to be the first person to apologize. Charles doesn't think he should apologize."
Beyond the memoir, the other problem seems to be a stubborn refusal by both sides to take the initiative in making an apology or to accept that there are any things for which to apologize. The Daily Beast quoted a friend of the queen and king as saying: "There's no plan for Harry to meet Charles." The book could have prevented a reconciliation. Charles was deeply hurt and dismayed by what Harry wrote about him and Camilla in Harry's book.
Charles must put his personal feelings aside and focus on the task of being king. He cannot start meeting Harry right now. It would be distracting and destabilizing.

Sykes also cites Roya Nikkhah’s recent Times report, in which sources "close" to Charles claim that the King "is increasingly exasperated with Harry" and "The king brings Harry up each time I see [him]". "I don't believe we've gone beyond sad and bewildered but there's more frustration with his behaviour because it just continues." This comment was more about Harry’s testimony in court than Harry’s memoir. This makes me wonder whether Charles is really that concerned, at this stage, about Spare's or Harry’s comments about Camilla. Charles seems to be frustrated by everything I mentioned in the introduction: he doesn't have any way to control Harry, nothing he can hold over Harry’s head, and no major event that a refusal to invite him to is required. Charles may also be annoyed by what Harry has said about Camilla. Harry's version is widely accepted and Harry's remarks are still repeated by the Rota. Charles is a shithead father, according to news at seven.
