Jennifer Aniston: Young people find the term "Friends" offensive. People are now more sensitive.

Jennifer Aniston currently promotes Murder Mystery 2, which is a sequel to the Netflix movie starring Aniston & Adam Sandler. They must have been easy to make, just like Sandler's films or at least his films. This is Aniston's first promotional tour in a while, or at least that's how it feels. So naturally she gets questions about Generation TikTok and their obsession with Friends. Even though they talk long and tediously about how some jokes in Friends are too offensive and how the show is too white, the youths still love Friends.

Friends was a popular comedy that featured all-white actors engaging in shenanigans. I remember watching it when it first aired. It was okay at the time. It's still very popular among youths, not because of its comedy but because it gives a glimpse into life and friendship before social media and smartphones. People are able to hang out, talk and live without their phones. Aniston is annoyed that the youths continue to yell at her about how offensive some jokes are.

Jennifer Aniston told Yahoo News (via AFP) recently that comedy has "evolved" so much it is difficult to be funny these days.

Aniston stated that "now it's a little tricky since you have to be careful which makes it really difficult for comedians. Because the beauty of comedy it that we make fun ourselves, make fun life." "In the past, you could make fun of a bigot and still have a good time -- that was hilarious. It was all about education and educating others on the ridiculousness of people. We're now not allowed to do this."

Aniston said that there is a whole generation of kids who watch 'Friends' episodes and find them offensive. "There were some things that weren't intended and others... well... we should have thought it over -- but I don’t believe there was a sensitivity as there is now."

Aniston concluded, "Everybody needs humor!" Humor is essential in this world! We shouldn't take ourselves too seriously. Particularly in the United States. Everybody is too divided."

Eh. It's okay to ignore the criticisms of Friends in the Year of Our Lord Beyonce 2023. What are they supposed do now? You can go back and censor any jokes that offend people. This is how I would react if Aniston was wearing my stilettos. I would shrug it off, say "that was the time, it's 25 years ago, that was what was funny then" and continue on. Sometimes jokes fail, and sometimes they hold up. It is a bit offensive that she tells the youths they are being too sensitive. Do you fake-laugh at some of these offensive or stupid jokes? Aniston can tell the kids to stop being offended. Is Aniston going now to complain about cancel culture?
