Kim Kardashian covers Vogue: ‘It’s okay to choose you, my 40s are about being Team Me’

I can still remember how angry people were when Kim Kardashian received her first Vogue cover. People claimed that they were going to cancel their Vogue subscriptions, and then throw away their copies. Is everything different? It's hard to know but I was thrilled to see Kim's March 2022 Vogue cover story. Although she is on the cover to promote her family's Hulu reality series, the majority of the interview is about her personal life and why she wants to divorce Kanye and SKIMS (her business worth $3 billion). Kim isn't going to talk about everything. In fact, I believe this interview is her most mature and measured. However, she does discuss some gossip. The full article can be found here. Here are some highlights

Kanye left her to make herself happy. In the past two years, I have decided that I want to be happy for myself. That feels great. Even if it caused me to change and ended up in my divorce, I believe it is important to be open with yourself about what makes you happy. I've chosen myself. It's okay to choose yourself. My 40s are all about being Team Me. I will eat right. I will exercise. I will have more fun and spend more time with my children and those who make me happy. I will put down my phone. If I don't wish to see anything on Instagram, unfollow me.

Kanye shares his thoughts on co-parenting.

Visit to the women's prison Chowchilla. "Literally every crime that the women I spoke with had been committed for their partner." "My boyfriend said to me that I should pick this up. It was a mystery to me. I didn't ask him. I was like, Wow! I would have done the same."

Kim's criminal justice work: Kim is committed to changing policies that disproportionately affect Black and brown communities. This is the most important part. "This work has taught us so much. Raising Black boys is so important, as they will be targeted more than their white peers.

She was a young girl and saw herself in Salma Hayek and J.Lo. She recalls thinking that there are many other beautiful looks. Salma Hayek was my prom reference. I took pictures of Salma Hayek to the MAC counter. It was like I had someone to look up too."

What's next: I always wonder, "What will be next?" Because Kanye was always there to tell me what the next fashion era would bring. It's scary to be out on your own but it is also liberating. You never know what you might find. Maybe I'll just be wearing Skims, be casual and not wear any makeup. That might be how I want to represent the world. It could be that it isn't so serious.

She talks about Kanye being her co-parent. This was clearly before Kanye's week of tantrums and accusations about her parenting. Vogue updated their story to include Kim’s statement last weekend. Kim has been on Team Me since childhood. There's nothing wrong in being a selfish person. She stayed with Kanye for a long time, probably because he was so sick and she didn't want another f-king divorce. She is really saying that she feels free from the judgments of others and society's pressures to "stay together in a bad relationship" or any other thing in her 40s. She can be free from Kanye for any reason she chooses, even "I will not be happier without"
