King Charles will be riding a horse in his first Trooping of the Colour as monarch

This weekend, Trooping The Colour will take place. The Trooping of the Colour is the monarchy's birthday celebration, even though King Charles is not born until November. (He is a Scorpio King). Tradition and history demand that Trooping of the Colour take place in June. So here we are. Charles will be the monarch for his first Trooping, and he wants to revive a special tradition. He'll ride a horse in the parade. He used to ride on horseback for the parade, as did his mother up until 1980:

This weekend, King Charles will be taking over the reigns of Trooping the Colour! Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that King Charles, who is 74 years old, will be riding on horseback during his birthday parade on Saturday, 17th June, in London. The British monarch will be riding for the first time since 1986, when Queen Elizabeth rode her beloved Burmese in the annual procession. In the years following, the Queen chose to ride in a carriage, and her husband, Prince Philip hung up the stirrups.

Despite stopping riding at Trooping of the Colour in 1980, Queen Elizabeth was a passionate equestrian all her life. She was seen taking leisurely rides in her royal residences into her 90s. It was reported in 2021 that she had stopped riding ponies because of "discomfort," however, a PEOPLE source said that the following year she was back on the saddle.

When QEII was riding in the Trooping Parade, someone spooked the horse. She had to use all of her equestrian abilities to control the situation. I'm sure she stopped as well because of a safety issue, particularly with all the IRA activities in the 1980s. I think Princess Anne was always on horseback at Trooping and will be again on Saturday. I can imagine Camilla being piled into a carriage with the Princess Of Wales. Remember that King Charles did not "invite", the Duke and Duchess Sussex.

Prince William participated in a Trooping rehearsal over the weekend when London experienced a "historical" heatwave (it was between the high 80s and mid 90s). One of the guardsmen fainted while playing his instrument. This photo gives SAD TROMBONE.
