Here are a few photos of Queen Camilla in Suffolk last week, when she visited The British Racing School. She posed with horses and equestrians. Camilla is a horse lover, so it's not surprising that she enjoyed this event. She even walked into the stables. It was her final event before retiring to Ray Mill where she was staying while her husband went on vacation to Transylvania. King Charles issued new "honors" before he left the country. One of them was for his wife, and people were not pleased.
The King's birthday honors gave Queen Camilla the highest honor, but the decision was not unanimously praised. The Order of New Zealand is the country's highest honor. Queen Camilla, 75, has now been added as a member. The Order of New Zealand is limited to only 20 living members, including film director Peter Jackson and singer Malvina Minor. The award was established in 1987 to "recognize outstanding service in civil or military capacities for the Crown and the people of New Zealand". It carries a lavish insignia, an oval medallion with the coat of arms of New Zealand.
During her career as a royal, the Queen Consort visited New Zealand multiple times. Her most recent visit was in 2019. The mother-of-two, accompanied by King Charles III spent six days in New Zealand taking part in a number of public engagements. The couple visited Christchurch, Northland and Auckland as well as Kaikoura and met former Prime Minister Jacinda ardern.
Camilla's involvement with "organizations aligned to her charitable work and interest" in this Pacific Ocean nation was recognized by an official government statement.
New Zealanders have been upset by the King's decision. Some people questioned whether she was deserving of the award which is traditionally reserved for Kiwis.
"The Queen Camilla's inclusion today in the honours is a little disappointing tbh. I'm certain she's an excellent person, but her "services" to New Zealand (visiting three times and saying hello to some charities), don't compare to the other worthy people on this list," wrote one person on Twitter.
"Queen Camilla awarded highest honor "for services to New Zealand". Another person complained about the ridiculousness of it, while another said: "I wish Queen Camilla and Charlie a happy life together but she did not deserve to be named to the Order of New Zealand."

Yes, I know that royals like to award each other honors and medals. But giving Camilla an honor (and one of the most prestigious ones) tied to a place she has only visited a handful of times? This is bad form. It's a bad move, especially since the palace did not package it with any specific thing. The palace has not confirmed King Charles' and Queen Camilla’s plans to visit Commonwealth countries once they are in charge. After the coronation, this should have been the top priority - touring all the British realms and the countries that still use Charles as head of state. It's all been a complete silence. No plans to visit New Zealand, Australia or Canada (which are all in the process dumping Charles and Camilla). Charles's preference for trips to Germany and France, as well as Romania now? It's a shame to be in the British realm.
