Remember the months of chaos that ensued when a new Jeopardy presenter was needed? The drama began with extensive auditions. Then the producer chose himself. He was then fired. There were then more auditions. Finally, the hosts that were chosen were problematic. I eventually gave up on the drama. Sony Pictures Television wanted to avoid drama after Pat Sajak retired from Wheel of Fortune. I don't know if WoF producers held auditions or just gave the hosting duties to the first Sajak esque guy they found. Ryan Seacrest, the new Wheel host is also worth mentioning.
Ryan Seacrest is the new host of the "Wheel of Fortune", succeeding Pat Sajak, who has been the host since 2024.
Sony Pictures Television's selection of Mr. Seacrest as the star of "Wheel of Fortune" is a bet that the show will continue to thrive, even though traditional television is declining in the face of streaming entertainment.
Sony's executives made their decision just two weeks after Sajak announced that he would be stepping down in the next year. They may also have been hoping to avoid a succession crisis that almost ruined "Jeopardy", another hit game show.
In a press release, Mr. Seacrest stated that he was "truly humbled" to be following in the footsteps of Pat Sajak. "I'm excited to continue the tradition and work alongside Vanna White."

I was initially offended by this. Ryan Seacrest's smarmy nature makes me, and many women, uncomfortable. Then I remembered how much I hate Pat Sajak. Seacrest seems to be an "heir" of Sajak. Seacrest is likely to be a competent Wheel of Fortune host, and I hope that he does not try to push Vanna out of her position. Seacrest is on his way to becoming the next Dick Clark, with a huge television and radio empire.
