Brian Cox: Method acting: "I don't have to put up with all the American sh-t"

Brian Cox is the face of Succession's promotion. It's quite funny to me. It's an ensemble show and Sarah Snook and KieranCulkin promote it, but Cox does more interviews and makes more news. Jeremy Strong has only done one magazine interview, and he was so vulnerable that I doubt they will ask him to do more. It's Cox. It's funny, too, that Cox's Succession patriarch Logan Roy spends the majority of the show critiquing and bullying his children, and then... Cox does the exact same thing to his interviewees. Is this the Method actor? Brian Cox spoke to Variety about his hatred for Method actor Jeremy Strong. This is an episode of the ouroboros. Here are some highlights

Cox is happy that Succession will end this season. "[Jesse Armstrong] is very disciplined in those ways, and also he’s very British in those ways. Cox, who is 76, will not feel the loss. "I'll miss my cast, I will miss the atmosphere, and I'll miss all the fun," he said in a Zoom interview from London. Logan? "Logan, probably, I'll miss a bit. But onwards and upwards."

His fictional children would destroy Logan's throne. They would probably only have it for five minutes. Yet, he desired that. He wanted his successor. It took four seasons to prove it. They simply haven’t proven it." Roman is "the gifted" but he did accidentally send Logan the d-ck pic intended for Gerri Smith-Cameron. He can't be trusted. Logan calls Shiv his "darling," but she "just doesn't know who or where she's at all." She can't even stop talking." Kendall is Logan's "darling," but "his own avarice has gotten in his way," not to mention his "Oh, poor me" thing that Logan finds "very unfavorable."

Cox's public dispute with Jeremy Strong about Method acting: "I am glad he's not in pain personally" and praises Strong for being "a wonderful actor." But there is more. It's a cultural clash. I am not going to tolerate all the American crap. You don't have to be a 'I think therefore I feel' person. Just do your job. Don't identify."

He worked alongside Daniel Day Lewis. He points out the case of Method actor Daniel Day-Lewis. Day-Lewis was part of the film "The Boxer" in 1997. Day-Lewis blames Day-Lewis for his early retirement. He retired at 55. I'm going to say, "That's when the characters become really interesting." It's the right time when the roles actually get better.' Jeremy was Dan Day Lewis' assistant. He learned everything from Dan.

My view is that Cox's genuine affection for Strong as a person is what is causing him to publicly criticize Jeremy Strong. Cox, an older actor, has worked with everyone and is trying to tell Strong that you don't need to put your whole soul into every character. You'll burnout, so please take care. Cox, who is too similar to Logan Roy to actually say the words "I love you, please look after yourself", it comes out in this way with Cox bullying his son.
